nuttygirl Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I'm taking my test a week on Saturday and have my fingers crossed! I've a budget of £1000-1500 to spend, and am 23, and so far insurance is going to cost me about £500 for a diddy car. What should I get? I don't really want an old-looking bread-bin shaped car like the old Ford Fiestas, and would like something a bit more modern like a Ford Ka... any ideas?
MuteWitness Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 there is loads of cars you could pick that will not be to bad on insurance have a look at parkers.com as they list what insurance groups cars are in. Just look for something thats looked after and low millage.
Jabberwocky Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 My first car was a little Nissan Micra, the new shaped type and it made a brilliant first car, easy to drive, a doddle to maintain and low on insurance.
neeeeeeeeeek Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Micra, Ka, sukkuki swift, my Volvo Seriously though, get quotes first. Find a couple of random cars on autotrader that you like and that are in your price range and get proper quotes for them, you may be in for a shock.
johnbradley Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 good luck on your test...perhaps hold fire till you get it first! All the best:)
em2007 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 £500 does seem pretty cheap. but back to the question.. a ford ka, renault clio, corsa. have a look on autotrader. and try to find someone who knows a bit about cars to go with you when you look at them.
Savannah2 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Our first and only car a Toyota Yaris. We have had no problems in the three years that we have been using the car. Insurance is £1,400

MuteWitness Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Dont be bothered about how your first car looks as long as it is mechanically sound - you should be able to get a nice car with FSH long MOT 1 owner. This is a 1999 ford ka 1.3i on autotrader they are wanting just over £1k for it anyway its only done 33k with FSH MOT TAX till next april looks like a good deal. Its 37miles away from sheffield.
