sparky2 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 oh boy, there are so many changes to come out in july if you are wanting a re-wire or any electrical work get it done as soon as possible the new regs will really boost the price of a re-wire/upgrade due to all the added safety aspects.. i am deadly serious here !!! I was a self employed electrical contractor for 47 years until I had to finish 8 years ago through ill health I am now 70 years old. When I finished the regs. were becoming a nightmare then I hate to think how I would have coped these days. Give it another 10years or so there will be no small fair priced contractors because you can't afford time off to go on all the courses necessary to keep up to date. I still receive the Electrical Contracting News every month and reading it gives me nightmares, and I am out of it, I dread to think what it is doing to you people. Good luck with it.

It's to stop cowboy firms who fit obviously dodgy electrical stuff, with warranties that legally aren't worth the cheap used bog roll they're written on.
