306 better off - but cost of living (accorning to the rpi) has gone up way more than inflation, in essence - I am earning less money than I was last year and the year before.......

Can anyone explain to me how I'm going to get tax credits from next year?! I've no children, I'm single (well, I've got a bloke but we don't live together), I work full-time and receive no benefits at all - how the hell can I be receiving tax credits?!

Blimey, ours said:

Next year, the indications are that you will be £1366.8 better off.

I thought every would be in the £1,000 region!

It says I'm going to be £39 better off because of slight reductions in income tax and national insurance. Of course even if that were true it'll get obliterated by rising fuel costs, food prices etc.
