2 black belts in 2 weeks

Hani you were closer with your 2nd guess. In BJJ you will grade higher when your instructor counts you as ready. The problem with fighting for it is that i could go to a comp as a white belt in judo and get a black belt with a double leg take down. He may be having the worst day ever (really bad news, problems at home) and his mind is not in it. Does that really make me black belt standard?? Whereas if ur a white belt in BJJ and show that you are regularly doing better against higher grades you will grade then. But only when your instructor thinks you are ready.

With the part of teaching yourself. Although there is always going to be something to learn you can get better by rolling and having an good understanding of the basics. Sort of "Practice makes perfect". If you ever wanna watch some BJJ black belts on youtube you'll see the majority of them do stuff you've probably seen hundreds of times. The difference is they've done it hundreds of times so are just tighter/faster than you.

The name of the judo black belt escapes me but Madrev's fav judo fighter gets the same throw on everyone. I could probably technically do it but i guarantee he's gonna do it better and the reason is that he's practiced it a lot more.

I hope this makes sense and ive not just waffled! LOL

I have a mate who went to this and paid good money, only to find a small overcrowded room and Royce Gracie talking in whispers, so half the room could not hear anything.

Could you mic him up next time fellas?

Great KAPAP club, some terrific coaching there too, I know Lotar is good, heard there is a new guy, running things at the mo, at the same club doing some terrific stuff - Ian I think - will be going down to check him out ASAP.

Think Ian is standing in while Lotar is on holiday. Rumour has it that Ian will be branching out and running his own Kapap classes on Saturday mornings.

I also have heard that Ian is awesome, he is currently in the process of getting a fight arranged with Kimbo Slice from UFC (Kimbo is very interested) and Bas Rutten (Happy to get in the Cage again) with two guys who he trains with Ben and Raj.

You can see Kimbo and Bas getting ready for this fight on you tube:

Bas does his best but as a trainer for himself and Kimbo but I feel that Ian will be able to get more from Ben and Raj especially when they hit the ring with their respective opponents.

One to watch! me thinks!

I am confused about many things! But, like Paul and Greg I am confused about this Kimbo/Bas mularky (I noticed on Sherdog that Chuck doesn't rate Kimbo at all).
