mort Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 So do you, have you a sneaking liking for them and their strange ways or do you shun them as the devil's work?
Savannah2 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Men are OK. Like females there are good and bad.
Jessica23 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 So do you, have you a sneaking liking for them and their strange ways or do you shun them as the devil's work? Nothing sneaking about my liking for (some of) them! It's a bit of a strange question, really. While men have a vested interest in not liking feminism, what do women have to gain from not liking men? Is there something implicit in feminism that makes feminists seem like man-haters? *looks around innocently*
rubydazzler Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I suppose I could be considered to have feminist ideals about gender equality, but I absolutely love men, provided, of course, they aren't the ones posting on the other thread

Savannah2 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 what do (straight) women have to gain from not liking men? Or gay women.
Jessica23 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Or gay women. Yes, sorry, that came across totally wrong - I thought at first if I left it as just 'women' some joker would come on with the usual 'hairy-legged lesbian feminist' clap-trap and I was trying to avoid that. Apologies.
rubydazzler Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 My point exactly :hihi: I know, I can't help it though! I see these comments and I just have to rebut them.
purple_frog Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Ah come on! Such a ridiculous question! Feminism is not the same as hating men (or being gay, for that matter!) - why should women not want to be empowered and strive to have an equal voice?! I'm outspoken and have been determined to stand up for women's rights since I was ikkle (thanks to the awful writings of one Enid Blyton!), but I still love and respect men, so long as they love and respect me in equal measure!

Apologies. No need to apologise; I wasn't being personal towards you or your posting. If a man is nice and caring then I don't see, even if you are 'hairy-legged lesbian feminist', that it should make a difference.
