Tony Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 An interesting point of view from a man who runs a company specialising in selling cheap beer at 10am. Wetherspoon chairman accuses drunken pop stars of setting bad example 7 March, 2008 JDW boss Tim Martin says alcohol misuse among young people is fuelled by cultural problems JD Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin has launched a scathing attack on drunken pop stars; easy-going parents – who he believes set a bad example to young people when it comes to alcohol – and private equity’s involvement in the pub trade. Speaking as the managed pub group announced its first half results, Martin acknowledged there was “rightly concern about a minority of people who mis-behave when drinking alcoholic products”.
Paul2412 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I cant see how it can possibly be the pubs fault. Pubs have been operating for many years now. Personally, I think he's spot on!
mr_busdriver Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 An interesting point of view from a man who runs a company specialising in selling cheap beer at 10am. 1) He has a business that is to sell alcohol. 2) people choose to buy the product he sells. So whats the problem? sound like a thriving business to me
Cyclone Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 He's correct. We are all responsible for our own actions, even people under the age of 18. If you eat too much it isn't McDonalds fault, if you drink too much it isn't Weatherspoons fault and if you sleep too much it isn't the makers of sleep-e-z mattresses fault, it's your own.
NEKRO138 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I'm with him 100%. Why are people always trying to find someone else to blame for the mess they've got themselves into? Weak idiots.
garethb Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I spend too much time on the internet, to whom at SF should I address my lawsuit?
chem1st Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I am enjoying the vouchers they sent me offering cheap beer and food.
md25 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Most people causing bother in or around a Wetherspoons would cause bother in or around anywhere else. It's not the fault of Wetherspoon that some find it hard to guzzle ten pints of Stella without becoming belligerent.
