Hi. I'm thinking of moving to the Fulwood area as we heard it was quite nice there. However, I don't know much about the area. So was just wondering if anyone could fill me in on what it's like their and the positive/negatives of the area etc...

Would be greatly appreciated!

Its lovely I grew up there! nice quiet area, little shops and close to the countryside and forge dam park which is beautiful. Really good schools, some of the best non private in sheffield and good local transport. The only bad point is the 'mummies' who drive around in their 4x4's looking 'pretty' because they havnt much to do until they pick juniour up from prep school!!!! lol! hope that helps!x

It is rather like the Sheffield version of Kensington or Knighsbridge but without Harrods.

haha love that!

so it's quite a upper-class area then? is there any snobbery their? Or looking down on people who are perhaps not as rich?!

It's 'nice'. I lived on Fulwood Road between 1981 and 1996 and it is a nice place to live. It's got good public transport, decent shops (Co-op and Thresher, post office, newsagent) and its proximity to parks and the countryside is a real bonus.

Add to that the schools in the region. I guess at times I found Fulwood village a bit quiet as a 12-16 year old and always wished, certainly from age 16 that there was a pub in the village. Thus, it can be a bit 'sleepy' but that's no bad thing.

I moved to Upper Fulwood in 1996 and am presently living on Lodge Moor - a couple of miles north of Fulwood village but with the added bonus of being above the snowline!

Yes. If you only buy one bottle of Crystal at the offie you can get a wicked look from the proprietor.

Also, cars older than three years old (except Rolls Royces and Ferraris) are likely to attract a parking ticket whether parked legally or not.

And the church bells peel to the tune of Abba's Money, Money, Money.

Actually i'd try and go for nethergreen if you can.

Just down from Fullwood, PUB, Tesco Local, bakery, chippy down at ranmoor on fulwood road.

Bit closer to town and just as nice as fullwood with the added benefit of one of sheffields best independant pubs on your doorstep in the form of the Rising Sun!
