I wouldn't be surprised if the do gooders and mamby pamby politiicans didn't opt to have any dog of this nature removed from Crufts. it's just the sort of clap trap that i think they would subscribe too imho.

Very possible- Liz Dunhill's Fantasa rotties always used to do really well. I noticed on the Crufts coverage they were very careful not to mention dangerous dogs and in fact gave some very nice coverage of akitas, rotties, dobes and other big breeds being handled by youngsters for the Young Kennel Club awards, which was nice to see.

No, notice how the rottweiler didn't get do to the walk of the ring in the working group which the other dogs did? Apparently they don't want to make the breed more popular than it already is

I thought it wasnt featured simply because it didnt make it to the shortlist?

It might be because they didnt make the shortlist, but i was told that they didn't want the breed becoming more popular in light of recent events by breeder who regularly shows rotts at crufts and it seemed to make sense

Incidentally, the winners of the Young Kennel Club 6-11 year old Working and Pastoral and 12-16 year old Working and Pastoral groups were: A Rottweiller and a Doberman respectively.

Found this info on BIS http://www.crufts.org.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=71

Breeds that have won since BiS was introduced in 1928

I didn't know that!

I thought it was good that the bbc showed the 2 kids with their rotts

It would be a real shame if they did doctor the programme to give certain breeds less air time in light of the 'dangerous dogs' debate.

The item on the YKC handler and her doberman Seamus (the girl who won the 12-16 YKC working and pastoral group) was lovely and the two youngsters with their rotties were smashing too- just shows kids brought up to respect dogs can be a good role model for these breeds. There was an extended item on akitas too on the first night but I was on the phone when it came on so missed it.
