help, my dog Bullet has pinched some chicken dog bones (last night)- now looks very sheepish and a bit off today - what should i do - any ideas

My cat eats them by the ton and always has- theyre cooked so theyre mushy so they wont hurt your dog, theyll digest and pass through like any other food. My neighbours dog loves chicken bones and hes a fat swine of a hound.

The only trouble hes had is getting one stuck across the top of his jaw between his teeth so his owner had to lever it out.

Once it hit the floor he scoffed it.

Oh dear poor Bullet, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but cooked bones are the dangerous type because they splinter, its actually ok to feed raw chicken and the bones.

If Bullet appears unwell it might be as well to just give your vet a call for some advice on what to do next.

Hope everything is ok and Bullet just has a bit of an upset tum from the bones.

Raw chicken bones shatter dont they? I was told that cooked ones mulch up and pass through... my moggy is fine as is the neighbours dog, are we just lucky so far...?

Christ my cat eats them by the bucketfull. He doesnt seem harmed though, hes fit and fat and so is the neighbours dog... Id better warn him and keep my moggy off the bones in future.

No its the other way around- cooked ones shatter, raw ones are OK. BARF diets recommend dogs and cats eat raw chicken wings, thinghs, necks and other bits of the bird. If hes not showing discomfort or choking, he's probably OK. One to watch for the future though.

Damn right it is! Hes never going near a chicken bone as long as he lives! Im glad this threads here or I could have killed him and thought I was treating him.
