Becoming 'un-anonymous' at a Forum meet

Recommended Posts

I was wondering about going along to a Forum meet. Sheffield being the world's amallest village and all that - what puts me off is walking into somewhere and being confronted by someone you know ... (which COULD be OK) but worse - someone you know and don't LIKE. Or THEY don't like you.

Has this happened to anyone?

I suppose the only thing that could happen here is that they would feel as uncomfortable as you, you could always kiss and make up or drag each other outside for a fight!!!

I've not been to a forum meet yet, but I'm very sure quite a few people would love to drag me to one side for a quiet chat :hihi:

Best thing is to walk in naked and shout out "I'm here - take me or leave me".

I suppose you could get there early, sit at a table with a good view of the door (and a newspaper to read/hide behind) and look out for anyone you wouldn't want to meet up with ... I think it could be quite funny. (Or run for it when you saw somene who might want to ave a few words ....!!

Yes, I attended my first forum meet last month and one of the people who walked in was my real mother who I'd not seen since she walked out on our family 9 months before I was born.

Nevertheless, we didn't let it get to us, burried the hatchet and had a fine old time!

Ive only been to one meet at the Rawson Spring but found it to be an interesting and enjoyable evening. Everyone made me welcome and even the smokers and non smokers got on despite whats said on here!

My advice would be that if your at all interested in drinking and socialising, though not necessarily in that order, get yourself down to one and dont let the "what ifs" hold you back

Agreed, I broke my duck at the same one as steadiman and had a decent night of it.

You'll find that "What puts you off forum meets" has been discussed before if you fancy reading through 19 pages of doubts and rebuttals.....
