Driving from S11 9AS to S9 2UA in rush hour

Hi,

I'm still abit new to to Sheffield, so I wondered if anyone could give me any pointers on the best way to drive from S11 9AS (Kingfield Road) to S9 2UA (just off Newhall Road) in rush hour?

Didn't know if there are any quick rat runs, and also which routes to avoid?

If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

drive around Sheffield a lot and work on newhall road and soz but you scuppered, can drive out of your way and will seem quicker because you are moving but taking just the same length of time.

Try getting to shrewsbury road (runs above train station), which is near the McD's on queens road and then head over bernard street, then bernard road under bridge past the incinerator and then turn left at roundabout onto effingham road comes out at northern power tools if you go straight across then turn left avoids the chaos caused by bus lane, can then turn right on either colwall street and come out at the firework shop.

Good luck

google says you should do this:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=S11+9AS&daddr=S9+2UA&sll=54.162434,-3.647461&sspn=12.216569,41.132813&ie=UTF8&ll=53.374164,-1.482553&spn=0.024271,0.080338&z=14

I'd suggest you avoid the centre of town like the plague - especially as the roads have recently changed to accommodate the new ringroad and force you to use it!

as suggested, head for the uni, then round the new ringroad to this point

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=15044370897699066499,53.372960,-1.498960%3B5227460084627024058,53.389203,-1.467685%3B5183349764622596986,53.388353,-1.466408&saddr=S11+9AS&daddr=B6069%2FClarkehouse+Rd+%4053.372960,+-1.498960+to:A61%2FNursery+St+%4053.389203,+-1.467685+to:53.388908,-1.467276&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=3&sz=15&via=1,2&sll=53.389241,-1.460581&sspn=0.012131,0.040169&ie=UTF8&ll=53.379489,-1.481609&spn=0.048537,0.160675&z=13

but the corporation street leg is no longer straight, and you'll encounter a set of traffic lights or two that you won't expect from looking on the map

it sounds complex, but follow the signs for the M1 from Brookhill Roundabout, but stop following them at the point I've marked on the link - at that point you want the bearing left lane, and follow the signs for Attercliffe

Google (and most sat navs) will tell you to drive up the wicker - DON'T - there's a bus gate with a camera on, so it'll cost you £60 to do so

if you find yourself on the parkway, don't worry about it, just follow M1 signs and take the next attercliffe or meadowhall sign you see. DON'T try to double back as you'll get sucked into the new merry-go-round

(others may be able to point out corrections to this post - I'm not overly familiar with the route, but it's a start  )
