CatznRatz Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I was bitten -aggressively by a baby rat on saturday. In my 19 years of ratkeeping this has never happened to me before. This rat is for sale which worries me but what if anything should I do about it.
hels1977 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Keep it clean and if it shows any sign of infection, go to your doctor. Rat bites can be nasty, but they are thankfully very rare. There are variety of reasons that rats can bite, this is a good link: http://www.fancy-rats.co.uk/information/guides.php?subject=ratsthatbite As for the rat, is it your rat? It doesn't sound like it is but I'm not sure! I would guess it bit out of fear or isn't used to being handled or thought you were food. How old was the rat? 6 weeks + or younger?

fakefreak Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 My female rat Louise was very aggressive when I first got her (stupidly from pets at home). I was worried because of her anti-social tendencies but she calmed down in time and now she is absolutely fine. I guess maybe that rat needs to spend more time with people so it can start enjoying their company? cheers
