They might have dropped the action but legal costs have to be paid.

so thats the reason one fan is boycotting. what about the other 5,000.

if the 17,000 that still go chucked 3 quid each in a bucket hey presto 51,000 grand to help a fellow wendy. we chucked money in a bucket to save your sorry asses in the 70's. and now your hoping and praying some russian, chinese, whatever is gunner bale you out again. when will you learn.

Wednesday's fans really should be looking at this talk of a takeover with a cynical eye. There have been rumours of near-takeovers and mystery investors on several occasions, and so far, nothing has materialised.

I'm reading about all kinds of nonsense floating around too... one seems to be that £250m will be made available for players over 5 years. Seriously, if you were running a business, would you really be making promises to shell out that kind of money on a Championship side, one that may even be in League One next season? Not even Liverpool have spent that much money, and they are owned by not one but two billionaires.

Allen was not a popular figure at the club, certainly not among the supporters. However, his pragmatic (if a little bitter) interview in The Star has some home truths. 'Where are the fans now I've gone' for a start... Neither attendances nor performances have improved since his departure.

And is any investor going to accomodate the supporters trust if they refuse to sell their shares? If you are looking to buy any business (not just football clubs), ideally you don't want to have groups of people hanging onto shares that can influence decisions or cause you problems in the long term.

thought he'd dropped the cases.

He dropped some of the cases, because the people who'd libelled him retracted their statements and gave an apology. Some others have not yet done so.

its going to take more than a few matches to get fans back but i did think the crowds would go up a bit once allen went. as for the takeover, some of these rich people have more money than sense. i dont know if the takeover will happen but if it does aslong as they dont start hiking prices up, then that might get some fans back, they should even lower them a bit, surely that would get some more fans in

Allen is obviously very bitter about it all, i was never one to have a pop at him as he had money in the club but he wasn't one to bite his tongue which you have to do sometimes in the position of Chairman.

The fans didn't stay away because of Allen (maybe a tiny number did) but because of constant poor results and increasing costs. Allen was just someone to balme for all of this for many. Him going made no difference only that they had no one to shout at.

Difficult one this one.

Allen has a point to some degree - I know quite a number of fans who swore they'd never go whilst he was in charge. And now he has gone, they still don't go.

Time for them to put their money where their mouth is.

But I can also understand where they are coming from. Apart from 2 out of the last 10 seasons we have been fighting a relegation battle - losing week in week out to all manner of cr@p teams.

So, for example, if some bloke was given the option of taking his son to the match at a total cost of about £40 to sit in the cold and then watch Wednesday being humiliated by the likes of Colchester, or spending the £40 on a nice meal for the whole family or a trip to see a film that they will all enjoy, then I think I know what they'd choose.

But as Allen is partly responsible for Wednesdays fortunes in the last 5 years (deny it all he wants, as Chairman he was responsible for the running of the club, the finances of the club, and ultimately he is the man who oversaw our decent from the back of a 'Premier Return' team to fighting off relegation to the lowest league), he still has to shoulder some of the blame for the fact that the fans won't simply walk back into the club now he has gone.
