Primal80s Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Basically, my neighbours have taken our wheelie bin around the back to the shared backyard area and quarter filled it with thick lead sheeting from a roof or something. Lead is incredibly dense and very heavy, and now the bin is practically unmoveable. We need to put our rubbish in this bin and have it on the curb this week as we will be gone all Easter and do not enjoy returning to a house that smells like a landfill. The lead is pretty much unretrievable without upending the bin, so asking them to remove the lead is out of the question. Is there anything else I can do? Will the waste removal men take this load (or will their truck even be able to pick it up)? If not then how can I get the neighbours into trouble and how can I get a replacement wheelie bin?
*Wallace* Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 The cheeky sod,i would ask him strongly to empty his lead from it and give you your bin back asap.

Taximark Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Have you seen him do this? this sounds iffy to me, i think thieves have stored it there waiting to come back to collect it.
Primal80s Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 We've not had good relations with these neighbours for a while now, they're constantly complaining to us about noise which they just can not hear unless they sit with a glass up to our walls, and a couple of weeks ago, the guy that lived there came to our backdoor drunk aggresively tried to get his foot in the door and had a huge go at us. It was pretty intimidating. I'm not sure I want a face-to-face conversation with these people, especially if I've just rumbled something dodgy. I've was reading around these boards after making the post and it never occurred to me he might be a lead thief. It doesn't seem too likely, but I might contact the police or at least the citizens advice bureau to be sure. I'm pretty certain you're not supposed to throw out huge masses of scrap metal like that in the wheelie bin anyway, and he's even stupider if he got it legitimately and isn't willing to sell it. Edit: Taximark probably has a more likely explanation for the lead.

pinklady Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 empty the bin yourself and sell the lead ....... pocket the cash,
lyndix Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I agree that its most likely been stashed until it can be taken to weigh in. I`d phone the police and bet their response would be the same.
Primal80s Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 Thanks guys, I'll see what I can do. I'm not a phone kind of person, but I guess I'll have to man up and put in a call. I'm going to double check what I saw soon and maybe take some pictures. At the time I was more angry that I couldn't move the bin kerbside rather than this dodgy stuff.
cal3549 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 If they've nabbed your bin, could you simply nab theirs to put your rubbish in this week?
