Alastair Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 What's the point of posting when moderators either edit what you've typed, change your thread titles or just delete your posts?
*Wallace* Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I wouldn't do this Alistair over inflated tyres can cause you to skid in wet conditions even if it's only a few psi.
torin8 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Surely over inflating your tyres would lead to less surface area of tyre touching the ground and hence leading to less grip..? Crashing your car and paying the excess and the hike in insurance premium would not be economical...
Lindos Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 You will reduce grip, increase tyre wear, and possibly break the law. Depends therefor on your priorities.
Alastair Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 Surely increasing the pressure up to the manufacturers recommendation for driving at speed is still safe at lower speeds. Otherwise what are you meant to do, inflate them as soon as you get on the motorway? My tyres are meant to be 32 psi or 37 psi with more load or at speed.
Alastair Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 Oh, I found this on the Dunlop site about tyre care Avoid driving over or scrubbing against kerb edgings or other raised obstructions. Have these people ever been to Sheffield? The council puts raised obstructions in the road.
*Wallace* Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Just inflate to the recommended pressure when the tyres get hot with driving the pressure increases.
