Blacksheep Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I need to take paint off brick walls. Do you know where i can hire a sand blaster? I've looked at HSS and they don't have any. Thanks
Blacksheep Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 Does anyone know anyone who does this kind of work? I either want to hire sandblasting equipment or pay someone to do the job. Thanks
cal3549 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 OH runs sandblasting company! Powerpro's (in Yellow Pages pages pg 339). We do sandblasting, small domestic to large scale commercial, as well as high pressure jetwashing. One offs or regular contract work, and of course (!) free no obligations quotes. They are out on a job today (yes even work Sundays!) but can be reached on 07813 036996 or 0114 2312376. Give us a call

mel@mellymoo Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Hi Cal, Am interested in a quote for cleaning my patio - Have PM'ed you, Thanks Mel
DinnoCanary Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Careful! If you sand blast the average 100 year old terraced house type brick (Common glazed), you'll take the glazed face off it and are likely to suffer penetrating damp afterwards. The rain can soak into it as if it was a slice of bread. DONT PAINT BRICKS PEOPLE! It's mad!
Googleberry Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Don't forget to hire hearing protection at the same time! These things are LOUD! I walked past one this morning on Beech Hill Road; it was deafening, literally!
cal3549 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 A valid point DinnoCanary - Again why it's good to get a professional opinion. PowerPro's did the work for Blacksheep, which in fact we did without sanblasting it. High pressure washing achieved the disired result. And as it was internal work rather than external, there were no concerns regarding damp! If any other forummers would like free advice or a quote you can contact us on email us on enquiries@powerpros.co.uk ... http://www.powerpros.co.uk, 07813 036996 or 0114 2312376, or see us in the Yellow Pages, page 339. Shameless plug, I know
