Cenobite Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I am geting a new car and not on finance etc.Has anyone found gap insurance worth it,had any reason to claim on it.?
Katie1980 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I dont think you can have it unless your car is on finance, the idea being that if your car was written off and the insurance didnt pay out as much as you owed on the finance, the gap insurance would cover the rest. I could be wrong but thats how I understood it.
Cenobite Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 I have been offered it by Gordon lambs, they know I am not using finance.I will have to ask them again.
the_rudeboy Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Gap nsurance doesn't just apply to cars on finance. Anyone can take out cover.
mrmist Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Yeah there's no reason why you should have to be taking finance to get GAP. Whether it's worth it is a decision only you can make really. If it's not a finance deal though I'd be tempted to say "no it's not". But you'd be a bit annoyed if the insurer only gave you 50% in year 2 of ownership.
Cenobite Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 They offered it me for £199 to cover 3 years.Seeing as I am getting a great car it might be worth it.
Tess Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 My OH has got Gap Insurance because his car cost him just short of £21k, its definately worth the money if his car has to get written off. I think for 200 quid its a good idea!!
