katkin Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 So there I was, tap-tap-tapping away on the laptop whilst it was charging up when suddenly the screen dimmed. That's funny, I thought, it only does that when it's on the back up battery, not when it's plugged into the mains. I wiggled the mains cable in the back of the machine. Nothing. Then I looked down at the power pack on the floor...Arnie the 'purrminator' baby Wegie kitten and son of Charlie, 'bear of little brain', is laid across it, cable grasped firmly between his front paws and teeth chomping through the wire -arrrggghhhhhhhhh!!!! Oh he's fine- how he didn't get an electric shock, I will never know (perhaps the technos out there will enlighten me?). Wish I could say the same for the laptop power supply...Had to meekly trot upstairs to the other half and confess on the little furball's behalf... Only £50 for a new one (or less on evil-Bay, which is where I guess the replacement will be coming from...) Hope it comes with armoured cabling...
Mandie Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I got a laptop charger that works with lots of different laptops from Maplin. I think it was only about £10 too. I origionally got one from a copycatz in rotherham, but it blew up! Kizzy cut off our internet when we first got her! We'd just had the man come round to do the internet, and then the next day the internet wouldn't work at all, so went to see why and she'd chewed through the internet cable thingy!! So now we've had to cover the new one up so she can't do the same again.
katkin Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 why not just join the cable according to the technical expert, it's not that easy with this kind of cable- you can't just splice and stick, but the eBay one arrived this morning so we're back up n running again and Arnie considers himself severely chastised. (as if)

(as if) Well having a staffy and it doing exactly the same thing. Its only normal wire nothing special
2of10sunshin Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Dawns Inks In Rotherham Do Laptop Chargers For About £25
Lotti Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 lol Katkin - I bet it doesn't teach you though does it! Where is your laptop wire now? Is it hidden?? Naughty little Arnie! I bet he feels very sorry for what he's done... NOT!
geckoqueen Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 My friend used this plastic cable guard to keep her rats off, not sure where you get it though.
hels1977 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 My friend used this plastic cable guard to keep her rats off, not sure where you get it though. Probably Ebay, I think I got mine from staples or maplins, lots of places sell them, I bought some to protect my cables from over ambitious rat teeth!
Gemima Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I am on my second laptop cable due to a naughty feline in my house. This one has been chewed which is why I have been offline for ages (did anyone miss me?) I have been waiting to get a new one and I just thought I would try it and it is working again so I am seeing how long it will last. The cable guard is a good idea as no matter how much I try she sneeks up whilst I am busy tapping this cable is covered in electrical tape.
