Little Lucy has gone to sleep.

After I had so many kind people asking about Lucy when it seemed that she had Cushings disease, I thought I would let you all know that Lucy went to sleep this morning.

She has been ill for quite a while, then last week she somehow fractured her elbow, she has coped amazingly well but had begun to have other strange symptoms, and started to fall a lot and was hurting herself

The vet this morning felt that it was due to either her organs failing of a tumour in her brain, I decided that enough was enough, Lucy was bruised and battered with falling, she was sick of all the blood tests and traveling to and fro, she was just tired... so I let her go to sleep peacefully while I stroked and talked to her.

The house seems so quiet now without her and I'm going to miss my tiny little girl following me around, and bossing us all about.

God bless and sweet dreams little Lucy x

You know you did the right and only thing for her and Lucy is out of pain now.

I really shouldnt come to threads like this one because theyre just so upsetting, As a bloke, Im supposed to be hardened to these things but they give me goosebumps.

It sounds as if you did the right thing for her and I know that loss is the worst thing to bear and youll never be able to replace her, but I bet she left you with some lovely memories, and once a little while has passed, those memories will surface and youll remember her with a smile instead of a tear.

oh Moonbird

I bet she appreciated getting to spend her last night with you, and I know that ending her pain was the best thing to do

you gave her a fantastic home, and you'll have lots of memories to treasure for ever :)

you'll have to teach your Durham to bark so the house doesn't sound too quiet now she's not there to keep you all in order ;)
