sTaGeWaLkEr Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Took the Saabster through it's MOT today and discovered I've got a problem with the Traction control system. Obviously I'd take it to the main dealer's - but rather than them gratuitously ripping me off, I thought I'd ask around and see if anyone knows of anyone else that I could try. Thanks in advance.
ducatiboy Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 the mot tester told you you got aproblem wi your traction control? did he spot a bald tyre?:hihi:
sTaGeWaLkEr Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 No - there's a TCS light on my dashboard that won't go off.
sTaGeWaLkEr Posted March 21, 2008 Author Posted March 21, 2008 Originally I was told it was a brake problem, so I had the brakes sorted and the light went off for about a week - but now it's back on again.

What car is it? The best move forward would be to have the codes read by an idie, usually £20-30. Joining a forum for the brand of car could also shed some light. I once had a similar problem with the 330d it turned out to be a bad connection to a tilt sensor, slighly different to traction control but it doesnt have to be serious.sometimes metal shavings from brakes or even mud on an abs wheel sensor could do it but im really guessing .Have the codes read that should give you a good place to start, sometimes even directly pin point the problem.then you can look at where you want to go from there.
Tony Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 "Traction control" in most cars is actually just a stability management software program run via sensors, whereas fancy sports cars might have a real (mechanical) traction control. You might just need the software refreshing or a sensor replacing or an earth fixing. A Saab dealer or a saab pecialist should have the necessary kit to diagnose and resolve, but poking it with a spanner won't really help. You could try Millbrooke Cars at Attercliffe. I wouldn't think that it is an MOT fail though.
Greybeard Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Not a Formula 1 driver then ? You know you're not allowed to use it now
Mr_Squirrel Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Shame its not a rear wheel drive car, if it was i would suggest not getting it fixed and have yourself some sideways fun
