The other week bought quite a few items (unexpectedly) from the Tesco Metro on West Street. I had two carrier bags full of tins and jars and heavy fruit. They split after I walked a few metres and my shopping ended up all over West Street! Learnt my lesson, made sure I had a couple of bags for life with me in my handbag.

Re the charging, my parents have had a shop down south for about 25 years. They used to charge for carrier bag if someone had like a packet of crisps or choc bar and wanted one. It wasn't really about the money, more to do with being wasteful. Over the last year or so, they have got customers to drop in their used carrier bags and my parents then re-use them. My parents crack me up though, like if a kid asks for a carrier bag for one small can, my dad will pull out (on purpose) a huge bag that you get given from Argos etc. My mum also gave a boy a small La Senza bag to put his chocs in, he went happily on his way.
