samishere Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 omg i went to my local corner shop this morning only to discover that they started charging 5p for their carrier bags.. you know the ones that only carry up to a loaf and a packet of fags(anymore and they split) i asked why was they charging the 5p and she told me it was the law???? how ridiculous is this? i know for a fact it isnt the law its just to line their pockets i reckon:loopy: just cos m&s are doing it they just think its another good way to make money.. i understand its an enviromental thing and all that but i think its just mental... anyone else know of any other shops around sheff that are doing the same thing..
DaFoot Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Do you really need a bag for a loaf & packet of cigs?
LJB23 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 It was on the news the other day that M&S are going to charge too. It's all to do with the environment. Tesco made theirs thinner, which totally rides over the point as you need twice as many then to carry your shopping!
samishere Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Do you really need a bag for a loaf & packet of cigs? nope not really.. i was using that for an example..my main point was the 5p carrier bag.. if i buy anything from that shop i'll either balance it on my head:hihi: or carry it in my very large pockets
beansforyou Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Take your own? Use your hands? Pay 5p? If the charges put a few people off using one when they don't need to, then it's worth it
Petrol Girl Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Its yet another money-making scam from all shops and soon supermarkets to starve you of your money and blame it on the earth warming up!
LJB23 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 How long have carrier bags been around for though, years! And now they want us to stop using them and save the environment, aint going to happen!
beansforyou Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 yep, you've got something for free for years, thats going to take another few hundred years to get rid of, yet you complain
chem1st Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 what about the fish and chippies that charge for the forks
