cobby Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Hi all, can anyone help please? i own a vauxhall sintra mpv, 2.2ltr 16v 5 door and the things started surging. Already had the idle control valve changed and the housing cleaned out last friday, well todays sunday and shes just started the surging again, not half as bad but i know itll get worse over the week. Anyone have any ideas please?
carltoncdx Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 EGR valve is a good suspect.....they like to fill with crud and then fail. You may get away with blanking off the valve with a thin metal home made gasket. Failing that a gallon of petrol and a match cures ALL the sintra's prob's in one go:hihi:
cobby Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 Whats the EGR valve do? This is the first bit of trouble ive ever had with her, considering i bought her brand new that aint bad, dont know why people dont like them?
Space Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I bet you've recently filled up with 98/99 ron petrol? probably in the last 5 fill-ups? 98/99 ron petrol is a higher octane petrol, usually called BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax or something like that? Let us know...
cobby Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 no mate, not at the prices were being charged haha, actually i own a 1975 Suzuki GT750 and made the mistake with that once, never again. Thanks for the thought though, any other ideas? The EGR valve makes sense thinking about it.
