Does your dog wear a car harness? Does it sit in the back or the front seat with legal proper fitting harness?

My boxer/mastiiff likes the window open just enough to stick her head out and her hair (ears!) blow in the wind and her mouth and jowels flop about in the wind too!!

shes now in the front seat so i can operate the window electronically and she cant catch her paws on the back window winders and wind it down.

ps...yes she wears a harness.

When we just drive to Graves Park for a walk, Gadget goes in the boot (its a hatchback so we can still see each other ;) ) he's often wet or muddy after a walk so its best he's not on the seats.

On longer journeys we put his bed on the back seat and use a harness. He's very well behaved in the car & doesn't fidget at all, so the harness is purely for in the case of a car accident.

when we first put the harness, on our mastiff to try it out for size, she wouldnt walk! or thought she couldnt walk! it was really funny because, i fitted the harness on her and my fella shouted her over to test the fit etc and she just stood there, with her head down, with her eyes all sad as if she was saying.."but i cant walk with this thing on!!" bless her..:hihi:

Yes, molly wears a car harness. She has just discovered the joy of having her ears flopping in the breeze as we drive and I would hate to think of what could happen if I opened her window for her and she could jump or fall out of the window, so she wears her seatbelt and can then safely stick her head out and enjoy the experience.

Can i just advise folk that when your doggy sticks their head out of the window, please be aware of cars that are parked door mirrors or lamposts, cyclists, over hanging trees and grass on country lanes etc.

Having the window open is lovely and safe with the harness but only to stop them falling out or in event of an accident. please be aware of stationary/moving objects that you pass or over take!

Both our dogs wear a harness and sit on the back seat on a cover. Albert our big loves having his head out of the window and have his hair ruffled in the wind  but is respctful and doesn't try and do anything silly or we wouldn't let him

Tilly trys to put her paw over the window so she has it open a small amount but not where she can reach it.

Sometimes we put Albert in the boot but only if we have another dog travelling with us.

We use the word in and he now automatically lays down. We only ever have the window wide open when it is safe to do so and certainly not on busy streets.
