famous Sheffield slang.

 

Al gidde a clip if da dunt shut digobup, in Sheffield. In Barnsley it would be, al githee a clip if tha dunt shut thi gob up. Sheffielders are more direct, they use less letters to make their point lol:D

Dee-dars Mrs our old boy was from Brum and we used to wind him up over his accent much to his annoyance!.He used to say "Shut the gate!",referring to the door and "Shut the door!"referring to the gate on the outside fence!.Another one when trying to make a point "Who am I talking from?",meaning "Who do you think I,m talking too?".When all his siblings visited us you needed a translater,all my aunties and female cousins sounded like Beryl Reid,as a lad I was fascinated listening to them chatting!.P.S. he came from the Aston area!.
