fandl Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 hi all, i recently cancelled my direct debit for my ponds fordge gym memership because i never go so its a waste of money. i got a letter today saying i had a 12 month contract and therefore have to pay every month, however i have a friend who forgot to pay one month and they wrote to her saying if you do not pay in the next 7 days ur membership will be cancelled in the end she didnt pay and didnt hear anything else. do you think this will happen to me or will i have to keep paying every month? thanks.
ReginaldD Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I thought all memberships at ponds forge could be cancelled after the minimum of 3 months. I always check before joining a gym that I can cancel at any time, if I can't I just make sure I have every intention of going regularly.
Weathergirl Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 This has been on the news recently about having memberships with gyms and that. A woman couldnt go anymore and so she stopped going, cancelled her payments (as she had family commitments) After a year or so, she had the bailiffs at the door asking for the all the monthly payments and she owes quite a bit of money too. But she had to pay it, even though she cancelled the payments. Whether she did or not i dont know.
fandl Posted February 28, 2008 Author Posted February 28, 2008 its ridiculous, i can understand if they were giving me something eg a mobile phone that i had to pay for, if i cancel the money they im not going to go and use their services.
Heyesey Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Take a look at the contract you signed. If it says your membership is for a minimum period of twelve months, you have to pay. If it doesn't, you don't.
