Abbeydale secondary modern

Recommended Posts

Hi I remember you you were a friend of my sister Gillan Sharpe,we lived on Empire road,I see you posted this 2 years ago so I might be a little late.

I would be interested to know when there will be a reunion as I have not been to Sheffield in years and it would be great

Cheers Richard Sharpe

Hello Richard, yes I remember you and Gillian and your Mum very well. Don't know of any reunions - no-one seems to know or if anything organized. What are you up to these days (and Gillian)?

Hi Gillian is married and lives in Dronfield ,to be honest we lost contact a few years ago as I was working overseas and have travelled for many years.

I have recently made contact with her on facebook and will go to see her soon, and yourself what are you doing?

Sadly, my dad, Dennis Tatman, who taught english at the school from 1959 to 1969ish, when I believe it was amalgamated with King Ecgbert's, and who taught me how to use the comma (!), died in 2004. I'm sure he would be glad to be remembered though.

I know this is a bit of a long shot, but do any of you old Abbeydale pupils remember Pete Simmonite, David Offler, Eilleen Whilloch (probably spelt wrong), Janet Hill or Doris Frith? Pete would have probably left around 1956 and the others around 1957, 58 or 59

Hello Melvyn, yes I remember you and all the names you mention. I am in contact with Janis Shutt and Janice Gent after all these years!| I think a lot of us have flown the coop and live in various parts of the world. I know Anne Makinson went to Australia many years ago.

I am sorry to hear of that., a lovely man. Your Father taught me English and was a very good teacher even with us lowlife! I wonder what he would think if he knew I eventually became a teacher myself- specialism English!
