Laptop broke, help!

When I turn on my laptop (running windows vista) it loads up, then says please wait....then says updating configuration settings...then shutting down

 

and then it starts it all over again..and again...

 

please can anyone advise? its a practically brand new dell laptop! I have tried restarting in safemode but the same thing happens

would this be the free from aol laptop?

if yes then maybe you should contact aol or carphone warehouse (assuming it came from them) before they refuse to help if you screw it up badly

Yes it is the free one, I am on the phone now but the call is on hold and has been ages grrrrrr I am hoping they will send out a new one but I doubt it!

Have you tried just turning it off and on again? It makes the man on the Navy ad giggle.

aswell as safe mode theres other options in a menu (f something key on boot up)

choose last known good configuration?
