How sympathetic are you?

I suppose i am a bit of a mollycoddler, i perhaps over indulge, probably to the point where people want to be left alone to be ill

'would you like some chicken soup'

'do you want me to fluff your pillows up'

'dont move...i'll get it'

that sort of stuff! if i could take away the illness of someone else and suffer for them i would. A psychologist would probably say i had feelings of inadequacy or something, and feel the need to make myself feel wanted or needed!! :help:

But it annoys me when people whinge and moan cos they are just a bit on the pathetic side anyway, like having a day off cos they broke a nail or something. :hihi:

You can be my nurse anytime.

I have sympathy for about 5 minutes and then just get annoyed, especially when he starts whining like a child because he has "flu" which is just a cold - but I don't understand that he doesn't get a cold, he just gets "flu" so when he is able to get up and go to work with a runny nose, its just that he is strong enough to get to work because he has to but he still has "flu". Right, I'm getting myself annoyed now.

As I was saying, I have sympathy for about five minutes throughout the year, once that has been used up, that's it for every illness he gets. Unless he is properly poorly - that is a special type and lasts about 15!!

However, if I am poorly, I expect every bit of sympathy he can muster and expect him to keep it going through the duration of the illness.

I'm sympathy personified me :D

OH once sliced his leg open with a stanley knife and had to have stitches.

I, the dutiful wife, mopped his fevered brow while a doctor injected anaesthetic, injected something to inflate the wound to make it easier to stitch and finally sewed him up.........NOT :hihi:

Oh no....I sat down the business end with the doctor chatting about what he was doing...whether he could use a bigger needle...how pink thread would look prettier....maybe a few beads....a big button or a zip to save time if he tried it again. The poor doctor had to keep stopping because he was laughing so hard he had tears running down his face and he couldn't jeep the needle steady :hihi:

Brilliant - you're the sort of person who makes me feel proud to be female :hihi:

I have no sympathy for people who go round whining about how bad they're feeling, but refuse to go and see a doctor to get something done about it.

Or people who sit and moan and snivel, even if they do have something wrong with them - where's their bloody backbone? Moaning and snivelling doesn't do anything towards curing the ailment and just annoys the hell out of me. Why don't they just suffer in silence, like I do?

And I can't abide being fussed over when I'm ill, offer me a cushion, etc, and you'll get it thrown at you. Provide me with tea and painkillers at regular intervals and then just bugger off.

Strange how it always seem to be the men who do the most moaning, when they are supposedly the stronger sex :loopy:
