Dozy Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 You know, when you're smugging about something and it comes back and bites you on the bum. For example, I popped the butter into the microwave to soften it up a bit, and programmed it for defrost, then realised I'd pressed for 3 minutes, instead of 30 seconds. Smugging gently to myself for actually spotting this mistake, I turned back to pour my coffee. The microwave pinged, I removed the liquid butter and realised that, although I'd corrected the timing, I'd managed to put in on high and not defrost!! I knows there's a word for this sort of thing, but it's buried so deep in my brain cell I can't excavate it at the moment - can anybody
Dozy Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Incompetence? Naw - I think idiocy is more accurate.
Dozy Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Is "come-uppance" actually a word? I think so - but it's not the one I'm (not) thinking of
BasilRathbon Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Is "come-uppance" actually a word? Wasn't it Mae West whose catchphrase was "Come-uppance-ee me sometime?"
BasilRathbon Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Oddly enough my karma ran over my dogma.
slickwitch Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Oddly enough my karma ran over my dogma. I'm sure you've said this before!
