Can anyone recommend a hypnotist/hypnotherapist?

Hasn't this been asked like a million times before on here?

I gave up smoking and had another course of treatment I don't really want to go into :loopy: with a hypnotherapist called Gary Oke who was based at Greenways in Totley. I noticed Greenways has disappeared now but according to his website http://www.okehypnotherapy.co.uk

he is now based in Wainwright Therapy Centre. Several friends and members of my family have also been treated by him for a variety of problems and all have been successful.

I went to Martin in woodseats to treat my OCD, he's now moved premisis to opposite the abbey pub on the corner where chesterfield road and abbey lane meet. He is absolutely lovely and it cost me £70 for a session.

John or Jill Donmall-Hicks are both fantastic. I'll pm their details to you. Hope everything turns out ok for your daughter. :)

Have to been to see martin too, and he has helped my son over severe long term depression. Extremely good.

Hi if you are near to Hillsborough, there a lovely lady on Dodd St who is a qualified clinical hypnotherapist - stopped me smoking! I think she does all areas of concern. I'm sure she could help. Her name is Melanie and she works from the Hillsborough Acupuncture clinic - 0114 2344650. She charged me £70for the stop smoking but I know she sometimes does 2 - 4 - 1 offers on groups. Ask her and good luck!

I am wanting to give up smoking and several people have mentioned hypnotherapy, only thing is theres alot of people saying its a load of rubbish.

So i want to know if anyone has been and had a positive result, as it is quite expensive, although i understand alot of it is down to the individual and how much you want it.

Personal opinion - it's down to how gullible you are.

In the same way as no one can talk to the dead, no one can send you to sleep and make you do things you don't want. Suggestability is the key - highly suggestable people will accept these solutions because they want to, and most importantly, because they believe it will work.

I've never smoked so I can't say. My dad relied on will power, and watching his brother die of lung cancer seemed to have a pretty big effect.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I'm sure some will swear by it. I personally think it's a waste of money.

I've been thinking of trying it to see if it will help me with losing weight.

I went to one many years ago, and it did work for a while. The problem is, with weight control, and with smoking, is that it involves lifetime changes - and therefore I suppose you need to keep going. It would be very expensive indeed if you had to go for the rest of your life.

Let us know how you get on if you decide to go ahead!

I don't mean to sound dismissive, and I mean no offence, but seriously, if you work out what hynotherapy per session costs, I will offer my time to train with you and go running or something for the same price! It'll have far better effects in my opinion. I'm not a trainer and I'm unfit, but I reckon running will have a far better effect.

(I'm doing fairly well at losing weight on the wii fit though I have to say!! :))
