red_hearts
Like most civilised people, I don't have a problem with homosexuals, but I found the statement on this poster to be a bit arrogant and very 'look at me I'm gay' in that in-your-face style that so many people dislike, and feel it's only going to have a negative effect. I agree that it will probably have a negative effect because I feel the poster makes Gay people stand out as being separate. Most people have already got over that years ago- of course education is important but what message is the poster really giving? Soon there will be posters for every group in society and no-one will really be any the wiser. It is far better to promote inclusion between all groups, rather than highlighting differences. jezzyjj
your argument is massively flawed. i could ask what being happy has to do with homosexuality is beyond me. language is constantly evolving and using the word gay to mean lame has been happening for at least 15 years! To second that it is hardly a new thing - The first time I came across gay being used in this way was by a lad [whose best mate was gay] and this was at least 20 years ago. jezzyjj
I think I would have made the poster say: HOMOPHOBIA IS GAY! Now that is a nice bit of wordplay. And may be accurate in more ways than one ! Reading the many posts regarding the poster in question, it seems many people who the poster is aimed at simply will not get the poster in the first place, so in fact will be unable to get over it.
