Sheffield Steam Sheds Article in Steam Day Magazine

Two images from Keith Pirt's book "Steam Memories: 1950's - 1960's SHEFFIELD"

Both taken in October 1958.

Notice the spotters, top right in the first photograph. I once bought a bag of broken biscuits from the shop over the road to eat while

collecting numbers but as I climbed on to the spotters wall the bag split and the contents emptied down the embankment on the other side.

Went hungry that morning.

Isn't part (or all) of the bridge in the foreground of picture 2 still in situ behind the Capita building ?

Indeed it is. It used to carry the Nunnery Colliery Railway from the mine, which stood on Woodbourn Road, to a sales yard next to the canal basin and Blast Lane goods depot
