Is it wise to perhaps be seen as a victim?

Recommended Posts

Lots of them, at the very least its funny in years to come.

Besides, Im the sort of person who drives them insane, I had a stalker in 2000 that I mentioned to you once and by the time Id finished with her she couldnt tell her botty from her humrous.

The trick is to ENJOY it.

not much to enjoy if there are more than one though!!!!

well you cant really say that you can get something good from every scenario then. I would suggest that the bad things in life that happened to you, have affected you and if you were assessed by a psychologist they would be able to determine certain character traits that were brought about as knock on effects to bad times in your life. Im not saying that you mope around being depressed in life, but whati am saying is that i would bet that you have been a victim of some form of negative incident at some point, and that it has affected the way you life your life and how your mind works today.

Having noticed a lot of sad threads about couples breaking up, and people being abused by their partners or neglected by their OHs, I wonder at how brave they are to relate these stories and if they do the same in their daily lives, and can it colour peoples' opinion of you in a negative way. I think I would think twice before revealing all the negative aspects of my life as I wouldn't want to be seen as a victim or a sad case. The support given to such people has been tremendous and it does inspire one with confidence - so how many of you would have no inhibitions about revealing your experiences on here?

Good question.

Seeking advice or help is fine. A relentless campaign of self-pitying (why are all men ********, why are people never nice to me etc) is just nauseating.

In that case, NO ONE can say that.

I was assessed at the end of 06 and was fine, we ended up sitting staring at each other because she couldnt think of anything to add and I couldnt think of anything more to tell her, in the end she said that the doc who suggested I see her because I wanted to quit smoking was wasting both our times.

I HAVE been a victim of lots of negative things, we all have.

The trick is to overcome them without letting them rule your life.

i dont think anybodys disputing that. just discussing the fact that everybody is a victim of something to some degree.... you included.

Well yeah we`re ll victims of something. I have to pay tax and Im occasionally stung by wasps, I suppose its all a matter of relativity, its all relative, one mans tragedy is another mans slight annoyance.

so we are all victims of something, thats a terrible way to think about life!

im guessing your a glass is half empty type of person? why not try to take the good out of a situation, whatever doesnt kill you makes you stronger and all that..

as for your example of a rape victim, i have known woman who have been raped and they have carried it around as a burden for the past 15 odd years. i have known others who have thought "im not going to let a piece of scum ruin my life", they have held their heads up and refused to be the victim.

that is what jabber is getting at and rightly so!

and what im getting at is that if a person has been raped they have been the victim of a heinous act and will undoubtedly have been affected in a negative way. are you seriously saying that the person/s you know that were raped and now hold their head up high took something GOOD from the situation!?
