Of course America isn't 'ready' for it's first atheist president, neither is any country, I hope, how can a whole country be trusted by someone who 'believes in nothing' as they say. Anyway, most politicians are middle class, and the middle classes tend to be more religious than any other class nowadays.

 

Now that IS a load of bobah. We've had plenty of non-religious prime ministers in the UK. Many of those must have been atheist.

 

As for the middle classes being more religious. Evidence please.

 

On topic, if the US was given a choice of a competent atheist, or a useless Christian, they would vote for the Christian every time unfortunately.
