The Don on the Meadowhall Road camera looks very very close to the top now :(

 

TBH It is about the same as it's been most of the day on that bit - it's the area with the path

Oh right, i thought it was the tide. But it does look like it.

 

Camera 18 is, I think, on the other side of the railway bridge from camera 17 so if you see water gushing down the road on that camera then you know we're in trouble!

Our yard backs on to the don on five wiers walk hahaha

 

Would rather go to work than anyones house gets flooded though joking aside.

BTW on camera 17 it is water, if you open the same window twice and move them side by side on your screen but refresh only one of them then compare them you can see the flow.

I dont think it is water - it's not moving........

 

I was stood there not 30 mins ago, the water is definitely not coming over the wall.

i was talking to someone at the BnQ hillsborough a bout 4pm and they said that the river at the side had gone up by 3 ft today...

I have received the following e-mail from the Emergency Planning Team, timed at 16.00hrs today (sorry for the delay in posting, but I've only just come home and read it myself!) ...

 

Abbreviations:

EPT = Emergency Planning Team

EA = Envorinment Agency

SYPTE = South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive

 

Situation Report

 

Time: 16:00

 

Date: 21.01.2008

 

1. Current Situation

 

EPT monitoring current situation in Sheffield and liaising with Street Force and other service areas as required.

 

The EA have Flood Watches in place for:

· River Rother Lower Catchment – Renishaw to Rotherham

· River Sheaf & Porter Brook

· River Don Upper Catchment – Penistone to Philadelphia

· River Don Middle Catchment – Kelham Island to Hexthorpe

 

EA update:

· River Don peaked at 14:00 at Lady’s Bridge, but remains at same level

· River Sheaf, Blackburn Brook and Porter Brook have all peaked and levels are now dropping

· Information is correct as of 16:00. Situation continues to be monitored by the EA. The Flood Watches remain in place.

 

Weather:

Met Office predicting -1ºC tonight on higher ground. Temperatures are likely to be higher in urban areas. Possibility of icy conditions on roads as surface water freezes.

 

2. Key Issues

 

a. Highways

No known issues

 

b. Transport

FMT have normal contingency measures in place.

 

Trains:

· Meadowhall / Barnsley – suspended

· Sheffield / Leeds – suspended

· Sheffield / Huddersfield – suspended

 

SYPTE have no incidents to report in Sheffield at this time.

 

c. Schools

St Mary’s, High Green – closed due to building works and flooding of boiler house.
