A week's worth of rain due to fall today... worried?

Recommended Posts

Quick report from my neck of the woods (Rotherham/Barnsley), there is localised flooding and I suspect road closures as a result. Furthermore, trains going via Barnsley are severely affected as there is flooding over that way.

The rain was coming down at an alarming rate over where I live and it dont seem so bad here, yet.

Getting reports that the main problems at the moment appear to be out of the area : dearne valley swinton/mexborough/ Barnsley / wakefield - reports that new miller dam is overflowing

Sheffield - Leeds via barnsley rail line shut due to flooding

Problems in the stocksbridge / deepcar / penistone area

Just walked past River Don (behind the wicker) - in some places the river must have been about 6ft below the river bank

yes it looked high yesterday around there. It was 5 foot off road level at that point yesterday - looks a little higher now. I think it's usually 10-12 feet below road level.
