vladivar25 Â Â 10 #1 Posted January 11, 2008 Hello all Im getting married in 14 weeks and i need to sort out the invitations. We are getting married in mexico and will be having a evening reception when we return. Now I have a couple of problems... Firstly does anyone have any suggestions on the wording that we should use? Secondly who should they be from i.e me & hubby, my parents or his folks? Â We booked it over a year ago and i've just been thinking theres ages to go so its kind of crept up on me with a vengance! Have no kids outfits, flowers, gift list, decoration for reception, airport car etc. Im having a nightmare so any help is greatly appreciated Cheers Linzi
 Share this content via...
willman   10 #2 Posted January 11, 2008 etiquette dictates it comes from the brides parents 'cps historically they've paid. check out your rsvp.co.uk, they have wording examples and font choices.  argos,M&S etc can help with gift list, my daughter has asked for meadowhall vouchers so they can get furniture from House of Fraser. pinks floriss in beighton is good, we've hired them for our daughters day, special order on black flowers. JarvisCocker   10 #3 Posted January 14, 2008 If you have paid for the wedding yourselves I would word the invitation something like:  (Your future husbands name) and (your name) would like to invite ........... (leave a line so you can write in the name) to the evening reception to celebrate their marriage on (date) at (time) Please rsvp to: (your address or email address)  As Willman says traditionally the invitation would come from the brides parents as they'd be footing the bill. So it would read Mr and Mrs Smith would like to invite..........to celebrate the marriage of their daughter (name) to (name).  Monsoon have lovely kids outfits as do all the department stores. M&S, Debenhams, BHS etc.  I have the name and number of a guy we used for balloons for our wedding reception if you want that. They were really fantastic. We also asked for vouchers as gifts, might be worth thinking about if you haven't done your list yet. That way you can get what you want.  Are you wanting flowers to take with you for the wedding or for the reception? If it's for the wedding I'd get them done there, I'm sure who ever you booked it through would help you out with that one.  Good luck and enjoy your day! vladivar25   10 #4 Posted January 16, 2008 Thanks to both of you for replying. Managed to get my boys two tail coats from Debenhams for the bargain price of £6 each reduced from £40 so thats help loads.  What do you think of this for the invitation wording? Join us in celebrating the marriage of our daughter, BRIDE to GROOM with a reception marking the return from their wedding in Cancun, Mexico The reception will be held xxxday, the xxx of May at half past six o’clock in the evening EVENT LOCATION EVENT ADDRESS Mr. and Mrs. xxx & xxx HOSTS  Regarding the gift list we are thinking of asking for meadowhall vouchers and just have a small gift list at Debenhams (some of the old folks want to buy a 'proper' present and not vouchers.  Regarding flowers we are not going to bother as I will get getting my bouquet in Mexico and it will probably have died by the time of the reception but thanks for the reccomendation of pinks in beighton. Some friends had suggested there as they are really good.  Also if could could pm me the address of the balloon man that would be great. We are not going mad on the decoration for the reception but did want some nice balloons. cheers Linz
 Share this content via...

He was great, did a fab job and works with all budgets.
 Share this content via...

JarvisCocker   10 #8 Posted January 16, 2008 Have a look here:  http://www.libra-designs.co.uk/weddingstationery/wedding_invitations/wedding_invitation_wording.html  You could use L4 and adapt it. Where it says "to celebrate the marriage of their daughter xxxxx with xxxxxxxx. After this you could then put something like, "which took place in Cancun, Mexico". If you're wanting to let people know that you are already married.  We were already married when we had our evening do. We just put xxxxx and xxxxx would like to invite xxxxxx to a party to celebrate their marriage. On xxxx time xxx etc etc
 Share this content via...
