Sheffette   10 #1 Posted December 15, 2004 Anyone know where you can buy kosher food in Sheffield? I know Safeway used to do a Kosher section but went into the revamped Waitrose t'other day and couldn't find it.
 Share this content via...

Swan_Vesta   11 #3 Posted December 15, 2004 Hi, I'm pretty sure if you contacted the Beth Din in Manchester (I think that's the nearest one) they'd be able to provide you with any info you need. If there's a kosher food supplier in Sheff then they'd know for sure.
 Share this content via...
Longcol   602 #4 Posted December 15, 2004 There was a small kosher section in Waitrose last time I looked - first aisle after the fruit & veg, about 1/3rd way down from back of shop on left hand side.
 Share this content via...

Shine   10 #6 Posted December 16, 2004 There's loads of shops on London Road that seek kosher meat, if conventional farming methods aren't cruel enough for you...
 Share this content via...
tas1 Â Â 10 #7 Posted December 16, 2004 There is some kosher food at Waitrose - second chiller isle, on the left if your walking from the back of the shop to the front. Â it's after the veggie stuff section and before pate.
 Share this content via...

Kosher meat and fowl must be slaughtered by a specially trained expert in a painless ritual fashion in order to be acceptable.  Do you know something we do not? jake   10 #9 Posted December 16, 2004 Originally posted by Shine There's loads of shops on London Road that seek kosher meat, if conventional farming methods aren't cruel enough for you...   Are you sure you're not mixing up Kosher & Halal?  Most of the shops on London Rd sell Halal meat (to Islamic rules) but not Kosher (to Jewish rules). I seem to remember there used to be Kosher van came over from Manchester years ago.. but not sure if its still running..  but as a lapsed catholic vegetarian - doesnt really affect me too much! Shine   10 #10 Posted December 17, 2004 As far as I was aware animals killed for both kosher and halal meat are killed by having their throats slit and waiting for them to bleed to death - a process which can last several minutes.  I may be wrong, though. I'll check when I come back from work.
 Share this content via...

Plain Talker   11 #12 Posted February 22, 2015 I'm looking for kosher salt any idea who sells it in Sheffield Thanks in advance.  As Tas said, back in the original answers to the OP, Waitrose is a very good place to start. They stock Kosher foodstuffs, and have a Kosher chilled section of meats, pickles and cheeses.
 Share this content via...
