Anyone have myalgia?

Recommended Posts

Yes I have ploymyalgia rheumatica. It is horrendously painful and the drugs used to control it are poison. Steroids damp down the pain but thin the bones and cause oesteoporosis, raised blood pressure and cataracts to name a few.

If left untreated total immobility results as well as potential blindness.

It is a serious illness so don't talk out of your backside please

*shakes hands with mo*

ah, so you, like me have an "imaginary" condition too.

isn't it fun to live with these "non-existent" conditions?

I'm still trying to work out how I managed to think myself Diabetic, think the uveitis in my eyes, and the huge nodules on my finger joints.

Take a deep breath everyone and calm raised hackles.

The lone voice of dissent should be quiet now ;)

Init one of them pretend diseases like Chronic fatigue syndrome.

I can understand this comment coming from someone naive in the medical field as, believe it or not, Myalgia was the name given by Rheumatologists in the USA for a condition where they could not ascribe it to a definitive organic disease or diagnosis. Extensive research has eventually led to a couple of possible diagnoses: a difference in blood flow and overuse of muscles, with a possible link to other organic diseases. But like all medicine... research continues.
