Advice about my neighbours dog

Recommended Posts

first you were stood their doing nothing, then you were screaming, then the dog came running growling as if it was going to attack

if you were so scared of this dog that you had to be screaming soon as it ran out the house you obviously must have known it was visciouse so why were you advertising dogs for sale that were from her

I did not scream as soon as it came out of the house did i say that. it has been ok before today dont just jump to conclusions

boot the dog and grab your child?

I'm sorry Charlotte I shouldn't have been so harsh before but it just seemed you couldn't decide what had happened and from your main account it sounded like the dog was either provoked, or wasn't even being aggressive but had just had a lack of training.

Staffies can cause so much damage, your son was very lucky and a staffy that had wanted to cause damage, would've given your son some very serious injuries indeed.

I think that people are being too quick to side with the dog in this case, and I doubt that anyone here loves dogs any more than I do...but I also understand the love that a mother has for her child and her need to protect him, you do have to be realistic and fair from both angles.

If this is an unprovoked attack then really something does need to be done, especially as the owner would seem to let the dog off lead on the street? if thats the case this may not be the last child to be bitten.

I don't think that the dog should be PTS for one bite though, (would the police really do that?).

Also I think that if the police don't read the riot act to the owner that the OP should contact the dog warden, whose job it is to stop these kinds of things from happening, and are used to tackling people about dogs being loose on the streets, they probably also know the relevant laws better than the police might as dog law is what they specialise in.
