mega_monty   10 #50 Posted February 1, 2008 I know of someone who has gone to a neighbouring trust to a training post as AfC6 and promised a AfC7 after completing a post-reg course! So much for equal pay for equal work across the NHS!  If they went onto a training post then wouldn't Annex U be applied and therefore they may only get 60% of the money on their Afc 6.  I would be also wary of future promised grades unless your given a training plan or at least some sort of written confirmation. I've seen trusts not sticking to their side of the bargain or shifting the goal posts resulting in people jumping ship.
 Share this content via...

Becky B Â Â 30 #52 Posted April 10, 2008 I finally got mine last week! It's confused me though - they owe me money, but the salary I think I transfer to (and I may have misunderstood the codes and tables) is slightly less than I'm on now. I don't understand that... nuts77 Â Â 10 #55 Posted April 11, 2008 in my opinion AFC is taking a step back, not forward.in theory its great, rewarding nurses for skills and qualifications. i am the old equivilent "G" grade but because F and G are banded together as band 6 i am starting from the bottom which means i am doing a G grade job for F grade pay AND the staff nurses i am managing all get paid more than i do!!what a joke!! rant over. zippy   10 #56 Posted April 12, 2008 nuts why are you 'starting fro m,the bottom' you shoudl transition to the equivalent point ...  even with AFC many band 5 earn more than the band6 and band 7 people managing them - especially in environments where 6 and 7 are 'banned' from doing nights and sundays
 Share this content via...
mel77   10 #57 Posted April 12, 2008 absolute codswollop!! I went thorugh the AfC and they promised us we'd be better off.....  i ended up with a days less A/l, no pay increase and after working my way up the ladder (increments for your grade) found that those on the bottom of the ladder came to match me at the top?!  They also promised us back pay to 2005 and mine was something like £30?!  It was just a paper exersice as most things are. I haven't benifited in the slightest
 Share this content via...
emmie   10 #58 Posted April 13, 2008 although in the short term i'm better off under afc, they have still to sort out the out of hours agrement and i could end up extrememy poor as a result. so so many people are facing this that is ridiculous. the amount of money and stress AFC has caused is unbelievable and yet so many people haven't come off well out of it. people are getting downbanded, jobs changed and making people reapply or take a down grading or have no job at all. they ene managed to swindle everyone on back pay by having the transition pay points instead of putting you on the proper band payment you were supposed to have. think i got a couple of hundred quid but it would have been a hell of a lot more if it wasn't for those pesky made up pay points!! nuts77   10 #59 Posted April 13, 2008 nuts why are you 'starting fro m,the bottom' you shoudl transition to the equivalent point ... even with AFC many band 5 earn more than the band6 and band 7 people managing them - especially in environments where 6 and 7 are 'banned' from doing nights and sundays  i am staring from the bottom of band 6 because i was only half way up band 5 when assimilated across. i completed a very tedious degree in community specialist practice in order to better myself and gain promotion and i end up an old f grade rather than the g grade my job was previously and just because band 5 nurses get paid more than their managers this certainly shouldn't be right and that is what is wrong with afc!!!!it all contributes to the feelings of worthlessness and bad morale. samsmum   10 #60 Posted April 13, 2008 Does anyone here work at Northern General Hospital, or Sheffield Teaching Hospitals as a whole? If so, I was wondering if you had gone through the 'Agenda for Change' and wanted to know your thoughts on it.  For those who don't know, the NHS is supposed to be bringing everyone's wages in line nationally, so if you do a certain job at the Northern General, if you worked at a Trust in Leeds doing the same job you should be on the same pay.   they have a lot of staff over a barrel over this - im a bank nurse (nhs professonals) and we were offered the agenda for change contract or no more payrises ... kinda makes the decision easy doesnt it? I know of several nurses who have got their agenda for change contracts, and will end up owing the nhs thousands ... one is due to retire in about 6 years time and she has had to take a drop of £1k a year.
 Share this content via...
