paddywac   10 #1 Posted November 25, 2004 Does anyone know where I could get a map that would give me a rough ides of where the various areas of Sheffield are in relation to each other/city centre? I know there's a general postcode map on http://www.haybrook.com/lettings_search , but it doesn't help with details. Any help would be appreciated. I don't live in Sheffield and people offer houses/rooms that sound good, but I have no idea how to find out where Hunters Bar or Nether Edge is, or which end of the road is near the Manor!! muddycoffee   10 #3 Posted November 26, 2004 I wouldn't take much notice of what district an estate agent describes a house as being in. They often make places seem more attractive by describing the district as being in the nearest and next best sounding place. Strix   11 #4 Posted November 26, 2004 dolouz is right. The sheffield a-z is a bit unique in having an area index as well as a street index
 Share this content via...

I have always found this useful. Beware of these sites when navigating round sheffield! There are many 'locally known' areas in Sheffield - such as Kenwood. Technically they don't exist. Kenwood just doesn't want to be Sharrow (though I can't say I blame it!)
 Share this content via...
Bilge   34 #8 Posted December 14, 2004 There's only one map that does the job, it's the fold-out version of the A-Z:  http://www.elstead.co.uk/acatalog/info_AZ065.html  Good bookshops or HMSO shops have it.  Stick it on a wall that you look at often and you'll learn your way round pretty soon. It's got all the little sub-areas on too - some of which I've still never heard anyone use, but are nice to know about.
 Share this content via...
