St Tim's Crookes Xmas Tree Festival - 4th-6th Dec 2009

Recommended Posts

As part of its lead up to Christmas, St Timothy's Church in Crookes is hosting a Christmas Tree Festival over the weekend of Fri 4th to Sun 6th Dec 2009.

It will look spectacular as we will have 25 Christmas Trees decorated and lit up inside our beautiful, newly renovated church. The atmosphere should be both wonderful and inspiring.

The festival will be a real celebration of our vibrant Crookes community. Each tree will be decorated by a local community group. Participants include a school, scouts, guides, a mother and tots group, a resident association, local businesses and more.

To give you a taster, last year’s tree decoration themes included ‘Not just for horses’, A Floral Christmas’, ‘Alphabet Stars & Numbers’ and ‘Tree House’ - a great opportunity to get some inspiration for your own decorations this year and find out about local projects at the same time.

Entry is just 50p and inside there will be plenty of space to relax with festive refreshments – an oasis of calm amidst the mayhem of Christmas!

The festival will close with a short Carol Service from 4.30 - 5.15pm on Sun 6th Dec during which we will also announce raffle/other prize winners (e.g. Best Dressed Tree etc). At the end of the festival all the trees (good quality – one careful owner!) will be sold off. If you’re interested, you can choose & reserve your tree at the event.

All the proceeds raised from the festival & bazaar will go to support local people in need through the ‘Tuesday Social Club’. The project operates twice weekly throughout the year and provides a meal, friendship and activities for people who are isolated through mental health or learning disabilities and/or long term unemployment.

We do hope you’ll join us at the festival. We’d also be grateful if you could help us by advertising this event and invite friends/family too.

Best wishes,

Gaynor, James & Stella

Festival Organisers

P.S. On the Saturday of the Festival (5th Dec), in our Community Hall (next door to the church) we will also be holding our annual Christmas Bazaar (inc. cakes, festive treats, toys, books, cards, jewellery and gift ideas)– an ideal opportunity to do a little Christmas shopping too.

Fri 4 Dec, 3 to 9.30pm (choir performing carols from 7.30 to 9pm)

Sat 5 Dec, 10am to 5pm (with Bazaar & Santa’s Grotto from 11am to 3pm)

Sun 6 Dec 1.30 to 4.30pm (with carol service from 4.30 to 5.15pm)
