Harrystottle   10 #49 Posted February 1, 2018 Vera on ITV has finished now. It was OK I suppose, but in parts it made me laugh when they weren't trying to make people laugh. Northumberland is a beautiful place, but you wouldn't guess it from watching Vera. It is very much filmed in the fashionable Scandi noir manner; so everything is gloomy. Monochrome backgrounds, gloomy estates, grim countryside - but the thing that did really make me LOL were the scenes filmed indoors. Gloomy? If you watched Vera you'd be forgiven for thinking that Northuberland is the only county in England without the benefit of electric light! Honest to God, I've seen better lit coal holes.
