Good point. "The Sheffield International Piano Competition " -that works. Or, "The Barnsley Internation Piano Competition". It's rumoured that Barnsley is nice.

Probably because the founder, Fanny Waterman, was born in Leeds and has connections there.

aha, so obviously another anti-Sheffield bias then since we have a far richer musical history than that little town next to Bradford

You are right, there are fewer better piano players than Woodseats' own Chris Stainton.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I heard it argued that UK budding concert pianists rely too much on electronic keyboards.

Consequently, they are less proficient than their competitors who have practised using a real keyboard.
