Weird/Copper type smell at hillsborough park tram stop

Recommended Posts

....

The smell I personally associate with copper is the one caused by overheating electrics, since it's always copper wire that carries electricity. However it isn't the copper itself that causes that smell. (I'm not sure exactly what it is - ozone?)

It's the insulation and plastic bits that you can smell.

Aluminium has a distinct smell, noticeable when you file or grind it. I had an engine that seized once and the smell of hot aluminium was very strong.
