bungleboy69 Â Â 99 #13 Posted August 6, 2017 Some good suggestions already, I would maybe suggest Vero Gusto on Norfolk Row. Top notch Italian food in the city centre. Â http://verogusto.com/ Â Also consider The Samuel Fox near Bradwell although I havent been there for a couple of years. Â http://www.samuelfox.co.uk/ Â And finally Rowleys in Baslow. DerbyTup   10 #14 Posted August 9, 2017 Some good suggestions already, I would maybe suggest Vero Gusto on Norfolk Row. Top notch Italian food in the city centre. http://verogusto.com/  Also consider The Samuel Fox near Bradwell although I havent been there for a couple of years.  http://www.samuelfox.co.uk/  And finally Rowleys in Baslow.  http://www.rowleysrestaurant.co.uk/  Yes all good too. I think Vero Gusto is excellent. The only downside is it's quite small and you're squashed up a bit against others. That's the only reason why I didn't recommend it. I'd feel a bit embarrassed getting romantic with my partner in there - plus its full of good looking Italian (and fake Italian) waiters so I couldn't stand the competition.  Only been to the Samuel Fox pub once. The food was great but the decor and ambience of the place reminded me of the care home my mother used to be in. The good news is, it doesn't smell of pee!  Rowley's - yes been there a few times too. Good suggestion.  ---------- Post added 09-08-2017 at 16:19 ----------  I'd highly recommend the Cavandish, stayed many times for the type of occasion you mention, lovely place, great setting, very good service and good food. Losehill lost a few points for me due to lax service.  If you want to go further afield try the excellent Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey.  Interested to read your comments on Losehill. That was our experience as well. Lovely place, good food, but we've only been the one time as the service was a bit sort of "off".  The Devonshire Arms is (or was) part of the same group as the Devonshire Arms at Beeley, near Chatsworth. Now that's also a very nice place to go for a meal. It's more "pubby" than romantic, but it is a very nice pub all the same with oak panelled dining areas then a very modern Bistro extension at the back.
