I remember the aerodrome at coal aston, one summer with all my family also aunts and uncles, we sat at the edge of the airfield where the roundabout at four lane ends is now and watched the mono and biplanes taking off and landing.

We took our sandwiches with us as it was a nice day and one incident I remember quite clearly was, when a biplane crashed as it came in to land. As it got near to us the nose of the aeroplane went down and dug in to the turf, causing the tail to rise up in the air.

The pilot was not hurt, but had to be helped down from the cockpit as it was so high off the ground, being a little boy of eight at the time I found it so exciting. I wanted to go again, but sadly it was not to be and later on the airfield closed down.

It was probably about 1935. Ah Happy days.!!! :D:D:D

Hey Hal

Do you remember when Cromwell smashed up Sheffield Castle? You should - you were there, you old trout!

Couldn't you have told him to leave it for future generations? I'm sure if he saw the condition the areas is in now, he would have
