Andy C   83 #1 Posted March 4, 2018 The 2018 beer week is approaching, taking place 12th to 18th March with events taking place across the city.  Some key strands this year: - celebrating woman in the beer industry - Beer ingredient hubs - Yorkshire Beer Photography trail - Norwich City of Ale partnership  There are 34 venues taking part in the beer week putting on events including tap takeovers, meet the brewers, tutored tastings, beer and food matched dinners and more.  The week kicks off on Saturday with the Indie Beer Feast (beer festival with brewery bars and street food traders) at Abbeydale Picture House and wraps up with the launch of the tap room at Neepend Brewery.  There has also been some one off collaboration beers brewed that will be on the bars during beer week.  Details at http://www.sheffieldbeerweek.co.uk or pick up a printed guide in one of the venues. (more details http://www.sheffieldbeerweek.co.uk)  Beer Week gets going properly from Monday, I'll post those events separate.  Friday 9th March  Beer & Pizza at Fuggle Bunny Brewhouse, 4pm-9pm. Short walk from Halfway tram terminus.  Saturday 10th March  Indie Beer Feast at Abbeydale Picture House - craft beer and street food. 11:30am to 4:30pm and 5:30pm to 10:30pm. Breweries so far include: Abbeydale, Black Iris, Black Jack, Brew York, Elusive Brewing, Fourpure, Lost Industry, Mad Hatter Brewing, Magic Rock Brewing, Moor, North Brewing, Runaway Brewery, Thornbridge, Torrside, Turning Point, Vertical Drinks hosting – Kirkstall Brewery, Sierra Nevada, Dry & Bitter. Ticketed event, buy online. Get there on buses 75/76/86/97/98/218.  Hardywood Park Tap Takeover and bottle tastings at Hop Hideout. Bar in the shop open from midday, tastings at 2pm and 6pm. Get there on buses 10/10a/75/76/86/97/98/218.  Brewsters Tap Takeover at the Rutland Arms, Brown Street - a whole range of beers brewed by women on the bar throughout the day (pub open midday to midnight). Tutored tasting event at 7:30pm, advance tickets required for this costing £8, includes tasters of 5 different beers.  Sunday 11th March  Norwich Beer City Twinning Event - Tap Takeover and Tutored Tasting at the Wellington, Shalesmoor. For our Sheffield beer week event we’re proud to be hosting an evening of Norwich beer tasting hosted by the multi award winning beer writer and journalist Adrian Tierney-Jones. Tickets for the event are £8 each and are available from the bar or via the eventbrite link (Extra costs may apply). Max numbers is only 30 people so advanced purchase will be necessary. Get there by blue or yellow tram - Shalesmoor stop right next to pub - or buses 57/81/82/85/86.  PUBLIC TRANSPORT - if you are taking in a number of different beer week venues a Citywide pass may prove a good value ticket for you, allowing unlimited travel on any bus or tram within Sheffield. Day ticket £4.80, weekly ticket £16.80 (+50p for smart card if you don't hold one). Bus and tram times and maps can be found online at http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com.
